“Kokdu: Season of Deity,” a new drama on MBC, gets off to a strong start!
A dreadful reaper that visits the mortal realm every 99 years to punish people, Kokdu appears in the fantasy romantic drama “Kokdu: Season of Deity” as Kim Jung Hyun. He meets Han Gye Jeol during his most recent voyage, a female doctor with the enigmatic power to command him around (played by Im Soo Hyang).
The new drama’s January 27 launch attracted more views than “The Forbidden Marriage,” which it replaced (the series that previously occupied its time slot). The first episode of “Kokdu: Season of Deity” received an average nationwide rating of 4.8 percent, according to Nielsen Korea.
With its most recent episode, SBS’s “Payback,” which received a nationwide average of 11.1 percent and established a new individual record for the show, broke into the double-digit rating range.
